    Product Description
The choke valve stem is a core moving component in oil drilling, oil and gas extraction, and wellhead throttling equipment, controlling flow, regulating pressure, and cutting off the medium. It is primarily used in conjunction with oilfield choke valves, regulating valves, and gate valves. The product uses high-strength alloy structural steel/stainless steel specifically designed for oilfields as its base material, formed through multiple precision machining processes including forging, CNC precision turning, and grinding.
The surface is reinforced with a wear-resistant alloy using high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spraying, providing exceptional wear resistance, erosion resistance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and high-pressure resistance. It can operate stably for extended periods in harsh oilfield conditions, including sand-containing oil and gas media, alternating high and low temperatures, and high-pressure impacts, effectively reducing equipment wear, extending replacement cycles, and lowering on-site maintenance costs.
The product adheres to industry-standard precision, ensuring high dimensional accuracy and smooth assembly. Customization based on drawings and samples is supported, making it a preferred component for oil machinery parts and wellhead equipment maintenance and replacement.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is an HVOF coated choke valve stem and how does it differ from a standard valve stem?
An HVOF (High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel) coated choke valve stem has its working surface reinforced with a thermally sprayed wear-resistant alloy coating — such as WC/Co or Stellite alloy — applied at supersonic velocity. This results in a dense, strongly bonded coating with hardness up to HRC75, porosity below 1%, and bonding strength ≥70MPa. Compared to standard uncoated valve stems, it delivers 3–5× longer service life, far superior resistance to erosion, corrosion, and abrasion, making it ideal for demanding oilfield environments.
What coating materials are available for the choke valve stem surface treatment?
We offer a full range of HVOF coating options to suit different operating conditions, including: cobalt-bonded tungsten carbide (WC/Co), cobalt-chromium-bonded tungsten carbide (WC/CoCr), cobalt-chromium tungsten alloy (Stellite 20#/NiCr), nickel-chromium-bonded chromium carbide (Cr₃C₂/NiCr), nickel-based alloy (Ni60/Ni55), and nickel-based tungsten carbide (WC/Ni). Coating thickness ranges from 0.03–0.5mm and can be customized based on your application requirements.
What nominal diameters and pressure ratings are available?
Standard nominal diameters range from 1-13/16" to 13-5/8", covering common oilfield sizes such as 2-1/16", 2-9/16", 3-1/16", 4-1/16", 5-1/8", 7-1/16", and more. Pressure ratings are available from 2,000 psi (2K) up to 20,000 psi (20K). Non-standard sizes and pressure grades can be manufactured based on customer drawings or sample parts.
Is customization supported? What customization options are offered?
Yes, full OEM/ODM customization is supported. Customers can specify: base material (e.g., 40CrNiMoA, 42CrMo, 316L stainless steel, 17-4PH), overall dimensions and length (80mm–600mm, or non-standard), coating type and thickness, connection structure, and surface finish. We accept processing based on technical drawings, 3D models, or physical samples, making it easy to match existing equipment from major domestic and international valve brands.
What types of oilfield equipment and applications are these valve stems compatible with?
These choke valve stems are designed for use in oilfield throttle valves, wellhead regulating valves, gate valves, drilling equipment, and wellhead assembly valves. They are suitable for a wide range of environments including onshore oilfields, offshore drilling platforms, and oil and gas gathering and transportation systems. The stems can handle media such as crude oil, natural gas, oilfield wastewater, sand-laden fluids, and acid/alkali corrosive media across a temperature range of -46°C to +121°C.
What are the packaging and shipping arrangements for international orders?
All products are packed in standard export packaging: each valve stem is wrapped in a rust-preventive protective bag (inner packing) and placed in a fumigation-free plywood case or reinforced carton (outer packing). The packaging is shock-resistant, moisture-proof, and corrosion-resistant, ensuring safe transit during sea freight. We also support land and rail transportation. Lead times are competitive due to direct factory supply, and bulk order arrangements can be discussed with our sales team.
