    Product Description
The plug (also known as the valve core or plug body) is the core functional component of a plug valve. As a key component for valve opening, closing, and sealing, it directly determines the plug valve's sealing performance, operational flexibility, and service life. Its structure is a single, precision-machined unit. The main types are conical plugs (suitable for medium and high-pressure conditions, achieving self-sealing through conical surface contact) and cylindrical plugs (suitable for large-diameter, frequent operation conditions, offering superior sealing stability). A straight-through, three-way, or four-way flow channel is located in the center, forming a tight seal with the valve seat inside the valve body. During operation, the plug rotates 90° via the torque transmitted by the valve stem (some adjustable types can achieve 360° fine-tuning). When the flow channel is fully aligned with the valve body passage, the medium flows freely; when the flow channel is completely misaligned with the valve body passage, the tight fit between the plug sealing surface and the valve seat blocks the flow of the medium, thus achieving on/off control or throttling regulation.

This accessory is widely used in plug valve assemblies in industries such as petrochemicals, natural gas transportation, food and pharmaceuticals, metallurgy and mining, and mud manifolds. It is a core wear-resistant component for handling high-pressure, particulate, and corrosive media conditions.
Core Structural Details — Flow Channel Design:
Straight-through flow channel (low flow resistance, suitable for high flow rates), three-way flow channel (allows for media reversal), four-way flow channel (suitable for multi-loop media switching). The inner wall of the flow channel is polished (Ra≤0.8μm) to reduce media erosion and deposition.

Sealing Surface Structure: The conical plug uses a 1:16~1:30 taper design to ensure uniform sealing surface fit; the cylindrical plug uses a stepped sealing surface, combined with a flexible valve seat to achieve bidirectional sealing; the sealing surface is precision ground, with a fit error ≤0.01mm.

Connection Parts: The top is equipped with a valve stem connection groove/threaded hole, using key or spline connection to ensure stable torque transmission and prevent slippage; some high-pressure plugs have a guide shaft at the bottom to improve rotational coaxiality.

    Product Features
    1
Superior Sealing Performance, Adaptable to Diverse Operating Conditions

The precision-ground sealing surface forms a tight fit with the valve seat, and the conical structure design achieves a self-tightening seal, ensuring more reliable sealing performance under high-pressure conditions. It supports both hard metal seals and soft seals, allowing for flexible selection based on media characteristics (corrosion, particles, temperature) to meet the sealing needs of different industries. Leakage is significantly lower than industry standards.

    2
Wear-Resistant and Erosion-Resistant, Long Service Life

The main body is made of high-strength alloy material, combined with advanced surface strengthening processes such as thermal spraying of tungsten carbide and Stellite alloy overlay welding. The surface hardness reaches HRC55~65, effectively resisting the erosion, wear, and chemical corrosion of particulate media. Service life is 5~15 times longer than ordinary plug valves, significantly reducing valve maintenance frequency and replacement costs.

    3
High Machining Precision and Smooth, Flexible Operation

Following strict precision machining processes, key dimensional tolerances are controlled within ±0.02mm, with minimal coaxiality and roundness errors, ensuring precise fit between the plug valve, valve stem, and valve seat. Low friction during rotation eliminates jamming and vibration, allowing for easy and precise opening, closing, and adjustment whether operated manually, electrically, or pneumatically.

    4
High Interchangeability and Convenient Installation and Maintenance

Designed and manufactured strictly according to international and domestic standards such as GB, ANSI, API, and DIN, with dimensions and specifications fully compatible with original parts. It can directly replace older plug valves of the same model, both domestically and internationally, without any modification to the valve body. Disassembly and assembly are simple, requiring only one person to complete the replacement, significantly reducing equipment downtime for maintenance.

    5
Optimized Structural Design, Adaptable to Complex Needs

Supports various flow path designs such as straight-through, tee, and four-way, meeting different functional requirements such as media on/off, reversing, and diversion. Some models are equipped with pressure balancing holes (dedicated to high-pressure plug valves), which can counteract the lateral pressure of the media on the plug valve, reduce operating torque, and adapt to high-pressure, large-diameter plug valves. The bottom guide shaft design further improves rotational stability and prevents sealing surface misalignment after long-term use.

    6
    Flexible Material Selection, Outstanding Cost-Effectiveness

Offers a full range of material options including carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy structural steel, and special alloys, allowing for precise matching based on parameters such as media temperature, pressure, and corrosiveness. For low-to-mid-range applications, nitriding and chrome-plated products are available, while for high-end, harsh applications, tungsten carbide spraying and Stellite welding products are available, achieving the optimal balance between performance and cost.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q What is the difference between a conical plug and a cylindrical plug, and how do I choose the right one?
Conical plugs use a 1:16~1:30 taper design that achieves self-tightening sealing under pressure, making them ideal for medium to high-pressure applications. Cylindrical plugs feature a stepped sealing surface combined with a flexible valve seat for bidirectional sealing, making them better suited for large-diameter pipelines and frequent operation scenarios. Selection should be based on your operating pressure, pipeline diameter, and frequency of valve actuation.
Q Which surface strengthening process should I choose for handling highly abrasive or corrosive media?
For highly abrasive media such as slurries or sand-laden fluids, HVOF thermal spraying of tungsten carbide (WC-Co) is recommended, offering a surface hardness of HRC60~65 and a wear resistance improvement factor of 8~12 times. For strongly corrosive media, Stellite alloy surfacing (HRC58~63, 10~15× improvement) or nickel-based alloy spraying (Ni60) provides excellent corrosion and wear resistance. For general industrial applications, nitriding or chrome plating offers a cost-effective solution.
Q Is this plug compatible with my existing plug valve without modifying the valve body?
Yes. This plug is designed and manufactured in strict accordance with international and domestic standards including GB, ANSI, API, and DIN. Its dimensions and specifications are fully compatible with original parts from both domestic and international manufacturers. In most cases, it can be directly installed as a drop-in replacement without any modification to the valve body or associated components.
Q What temperature and pressure ranges does this plug support?
The standard material range covers operating temperatures from -40℃ to +450℃ and pressures from PN1.6MPa to PN160MPa (Class 150 to Class 2500). For extreme temperature applications, special materials such as Hastelloy C276, Monel 400, or Inconel can extend the range to -196℃~+550℃. Please specify your exact operating conditions when ordering so the appropriate material grade can be recommended.
Q What flow channel configurations are available, and which is suitable for my application?
Three flow channel types are available: straight-through (low flow resistance, ideal for high flow rate applications), three-way (enables media direction reversal), and four-way (suitable for multi-loop media switching). The inner wall of all flow channels is polished to Ra≤0.8μm to minimize erosion and media deposition. Please specify your pipeline layout and functional requirements when placing your order.
Q How is the product packaged for international shipping, and what quality certifications are available?
Each plug is wrapped in rust-proof protective material and packed in a fumigation-free plywood case or export carton, engineered for shock resistance, moisture protection, and corrosion prevention to ensure safe delivery via ocean transportation. Products are manufactured to GB/T 1804-2000 precision grade standards with dimensional tolerances ≤±0.02mm. Compliance with ANSI B16.104 leakage Class V (metal hard seal) and Class VI (soft seal) is standard. Custom quality documentation and third-party inspection can be arranged upon request.
